My Approach

Whether addressing a chronic condition, accident, injury, or reducing stress, you can expect exceptional care and clear communication during every massage.

Jo Ann customizes every massage for each client. She combines a variety of modalities (a few are listed below) to expedite recovery and allow the body to release tenstion and trauma. Focusing in targeted areas, Jo Ann notices the best results from clients when working as a team.

Clients either disrobe to their comfort level or wear comfortable workout clothing depending on the intention and modalities used in the session.

MODALITIES

Manual Ligament Therapy: a technique that uses light pressure on your ligaments to relax muscles; lighter than deep tissue work, without the pain and similar results.

Cupping: An ancient healing method that uses negative pressure to lift muscle fibers and increase blood flow to the affected area. It can help resolve chronic muscle tightness and pain, increase circulation, reduce anxiety, and encourages tissues to release toxins. It is common to have red round marks on your skin after a treatment.

Visceral / Abdominal massage / Chi Nei Tsang: This technique can be beneficial for patients who suffer from digestive issues or low back pain. Depending on the issue, the focus could be on the muscle tissue, organs, energy (chi) flow, or all three.

Pin and Stretch Technique: Assisted or passive stretch where the therapist holds (pins) a muscle and stretches it by moving a muscle attachment away from a pinned point.

Energy Work and Chakra Balancing: Chakras refer to various energy centers in your body that correspond to specific nerve bundles and internal organs. The seven major chakras run from the base of your spine to the top of your head. If these energy centers get blocked, you may experience physical or emotional symptoms related to a particular chakra.

Laura C.

Jo helped me work through a seizing hip ligament that I've been to multiple body workers and massage therapists for over the last decade with no progress.

Her MLT techniques in particular were the first thing (ever) to make headway on reducing the frequency of seizing, and lower the baseline tension causing me to walk slightly bent. The skills she left me with have allowed me to quickly address flare ups at home and move differently to improve overall walking and movement mobility.
